Wonkette
"Wonkette, the gossip blog that refuses to die. Wonkette is Bush-era liberalism frozen in amber, motionless and immortal, forced to passively observe a changing world until the end of time."
  • Take satire, remove discernment, add the editorial sarcasm of a professional left-liberal gossip with partisan mockery designed to evade the risk of genuinely speaking truth to power while looking like irreverently doing so.
  • Bullshit Spigot Rating: D+

    W Somerset Maugham
It is dangerous to let the public behind the scenes. They are easily disillusioned and then they are angry with you, for it was the illusion they loved.

Perhaps the most obvious political effect of controlled news is the advantage it gives powerful people in getting their issues on the political agenda and defining those issues in ways likely to influence their resolution.

    Walter Lippmann
The news of the days it reaches the newspaper office is an incredible medley of fact, propaganda, rumour, suspicion, clues, hopes, and fears, and the task of selecting and ordering that news is one of the truly sacred and priestly offices in a democracy. For the newspaper is in all literalness the bible of democracy, the book out of which a people determines its conduct.

    Ward Churchill
The American people are free to do exactly what they are told.

    Wendell Phillips
No free people can lose their liberties while they are jealous of liberty. But the liberties of the freest people are in danger when they set up symbols of liberty as fetishes, worshipping the symbol instead of the principle it represents.

What are the true root motives of the US Conservative movement?

It's important to understand the motives of a Conservative movement versus what are the tools a Conservative movement may be using to get to where they want to be. Solely on root motivations, some will say: Conservatives at the very top, they're racist, they're anti black, they're anti semitic. They want an all white world And so that's what the objective is. And a current tool they happen to be using is voter suppression. Motivated by racism. Not wanting to raise the minimum wage, motivated by racism. Everything in American Conservative ideology is motivated by racism. And there's another camp that will say: We live in an oligarchy, people are very driven to protect elite financial interests. And since the dawn of America, race has been weaponized. It's an underclass signifier even when it's no longer a cheap economic engine (slavery, etc). To protect and perpetuate elite power, we will exploit factions that emerge along racial lines, we will create and teach people to Balkanize themselves in these ways and others. All in order to prevent them from noticing (and resisting) the ways that they're being exploited economically.

    White Ethnic Bigotry
While ethnic bigotry has been around for millennia and probably affects every known human community to some degree, the invention, or at least codification, of ‘race’ was an eighteenth and nineteenth century pan-Euro-American project, in which British intellectuals played a central role. Britain also had a pioneering role in making white supremacy a temporary political reality via its racialised global empire, yet to publicly discuss racism, much less have the gall to accurately name white supremacy as a strong current in Britain’s history, is to be greeted with odium by some who claim to study that history, but it seems would rather be left to uncritically celebrate it in peace.

There are those contentious and disorderly people, who engage in useless speculation and deceptive talk, and focus on divisive points of dispute... All things are good to the pure of heart, but to these corrupt and disbelieving controversialists nothing can be good, since both their minds and and their hearts are corrupted. They may say that they know God, but by their actions they deny Him, being corrupt and disobedient, and of no use for any good purpose. (Titus 1:10, 15-16)

“A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.
