"Truth is the property of no individual but is the treasure of all men." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
As human beings we know that FREE WILL matters. It's one of our most prized possessions. It's the basis of our concepts of freedom and individuality and self-identity.
But what is FREE WILL if we are conditioned to only make choices that suit conventional agenda?
It may look like we're at liberty but in reality we are being denied FREE CHOICE, which by rights is the natural corollary of FREE WILL.
Whatever your goals in life and whichever is your preferred politics, real FREE CHOICE can only exist authentically when it comes from FREE WILL plus TRUTH. You can't have one without the other.
"Orthodoxy means not thinking–not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness." - George Orwell, 1984
Here's where the problems begin. TRUTH is not given freely to any of us. TRUTH doesn't suit entrenched power structures and it's a confluence of these structures that govern our lives in society.
Benign government isn't so different to totalitarian government when it comes to TRUTH because TRUTH is apolitical and it makes citizens unpredictable.
TRUTH (or its absence) becomes a vehicle of control; whether the society is an authoritarian monarchy or by benign, neoliberal representative democracy.
The dictator may be more likely to abuse TRUTH by propaganda falsehood. Authoritarian justification.
The democracy may be more likely to simply evade TRUTH by keeping it out of the way of the population; for the good of society. Utilitarian justification.
Whether TRUTH is abused by lies or obscured by utility, it doesn't matter. End result is we're presented with manipulated information a thousand times a day and, for us as individuals, this false or incomplete reality conditions our FREE CHOICE.
FREE WILL doesn't get to make a FREE CHOICE unless we're fully aware of the objective reality. Objective reality can only be understood when we're exposed to the non-political, non-bias, deindividuated and uncompromised TRUTH, in its entirety.
“But the most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention. It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over. Here, as so often in this world, persistence is the first and most important requirement for success.” - Adolf Hitler
To have individual liberty in the world today, to exercise our FREE WILL by making FREE CHOICE based on the TRUTH, we need an arsenal of living, real-world techniques for seeing through the conditioning.
TRUTH must be exposed. TRUTH is objective reality and not the world as it happens to be spun by an external intermediary like government or media or information source; or our own ignorance.
Armed with TRUTH our FREE WILL is at liberty to make FREE CHOICE.
“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” - George Orwell, 1984
This is all we need to be masters of our own thinking and it's a genuine individual equality that transcends the bias of identity politics, group inertia, false flag propaganda and whatever external forces vie for control of the reality narratives.
It's not always easy to acquire the arsenal of techniques needed to see through conditioning and expose the TRUTH of objective reality. They're not taught in school. They're not easy to pinpoint and acquire once working life begins. The world is a complex place and most of us don't have time to work through the innumerable instances of possible conditioning or incomplete versions of reality, to distill the confusion of information into simple universal methods for perceiving TRUTH ready for the next wave of narrative news.
"In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George Orwell
What will each of us choose to do with FREE CHOICE once we've trained ourselves to see the TRUTH that's above and beyond the conditioning?
What will our FREE WILL compel us to think and do, once it's been liberated to look at TRUTH in the world and exercise FREE CHOICE mindful of the full spectrum of possibilities?
The answer is it's up to you. And up to me. And, in an ideal world, up to the private, personal life-choices of each individual human being.
